I am new to this forum so here goes just purchased a 1980 super dream 400n when bike is ridden a high pitch whine comes from the front of engine. As soon as you stop it gradually whines down. Doesn't do it when stationary sounds like a dry bearing! Any ideas thanks Duncan

Hi Duncan, are you certain its from the engine? the speedo and rev counter heads often whine when they haven`t been used for a long time as the grease in them dries out , also the rev counter cable can dry out over time and whine as well. If it`s the clocks, try a little drop of oil up the drive but don`t use to much, and pull the inner cables out of the rev counter and speedo cables and lube them up. My rev counter on the 400 wailed like a banshee when I first put it back on the road. If you need anymore help come on over and join us on the main forum at www.honda-superdream.co.uk
